| ARTICLE IV- EXECUTIVE BOARD Return to By-Laws' main page. Section 4.1 Composition.
The Executive Board shall consist of the President, the Vice President, the regional member of the UEA Board of Directors, eight elected Board members representing geographic areas, and two Board members elected at large: a. one to represent ethnic minorities, b. one to represent related professional services, including all members who are not regular education teachers. The Association Executive Board, together with the DATEA President, shall constitute the Davis UniServ Board. Section 4.2 Terms.
The ten Board members shall be elected for terms of two years. The terms of four members representing geographic areas and the member representing ethnic minorities shall be for the two year period beginning the day following the last day of the traditional school year and ending on the last day of school of the even numbered years. The terms of the four members representing geographic areas and the member representing related professional services, shall begin the day following the last day of the traditional school year and shall end on the last day of school of the odd numbered years. No Board member shall be elected to more than two terms consecutively. Section 4.3 Duties.
The Executive Board shall manage the affairs of the Association subject to such policies and legislative determinations as may be made by the Representative council, The Board shall make a policy delegating the authority to approve minor expenditures, and shall approve all major expenditures made on behalf of the Association. Minutes of Board meetings will be made available to members upon request. The Board shall have the power to suggest policies and other actions for consideration by the Council. The Board shall have power to approve appointments made by the President. It shall have power to approve the hiring of Association staff and shall determine the amount of their remuneration for services. Section 4.4 Delegates.
Election as a member of the Executive Board shall constitute election as a delegate to the House of Delegates of the Utah Education Association and the Representative Assembly of the National Education Association (RA). As elected delegates to the UEA House of Delegates, Executive Board members are expected to attend the annual meeting of that body. As elected delegates to the NEA RA, Executive Board members are expected to represent the Association at caucuses, hearings, and on the floor of the NEA Representative Assembly.
